You Are Sent To Kings

The story of the Apostle Paul’s conversion is a striking and well-known one.

On the road to Damascus Paul – or Saul as he then was – found himself surrounded by a bright light from heaven. A conversation with Jesus took place and a blinded Paul had to be led into Damascus by hand.

A man called Ananias was sent to Saul/Paul to restore his sight. This man was given Paul’s lifetime mission by the Lord and what is interesting about this is that not only did this prophetic message accurately predict the duality of Paul’s ministry to both Judah and the scattered tribes of the Uncircumcision i.e. Gentilised Israelites, it also included a vital part of apostolic ministry that is arguably even more relevant to us today than it was in the Early Church era.

This part is the forgotten “third dimension” of the Apostle Paul’s ministry. We see it here in the Lord’s instruction to Ananias:

But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.” ACTS 9:15,16 NKJV

It is well-known that Paul was indeed sent to and ministered to both the Gentiles and his fellow Judahites who comprised the nation of Israel at that time. Yet here we see an aspect of Paul’s ministry which few are aware of – he was expressly sent to a third people group i.e. kings!!

Now there was a very specific fulfilment of this in terms of Paul’s relationship through his mother and half-brother Pudens. Pudens was married to Claudia, daughter of Caractacus the British King and adopted daughter of Emperor Claudius. Pudens and Claudia lived in the Palatium Britannicum, the household where British royalty lived in Rome and where the Titulus – the original Christian church in Rome – gathered. Their son Timothy – possibly named after Paul’s son in the faith – became an apostle to Britain and baptised his great-nephew Lucius, a British king.

So Paul’s immediate family was British royalty and he was by this connection also related to Rome’s Imperial family.

We know from Scripture that Paul was often led to a place where he addressed important people, such as King Agrippa (see Acts chapters 25 and 26).

It is this aspect of being sent to kings that I believe the Lord would have us be very aware of in our generation, particularly as Paul’s ministry is seen as prototypical of ministry in the Church Age.

This is something I believe even the lowliest of believers is called to do i.e. minister to kings, rulers and leaders in various dimensions of society.

For years believers have been talking about how people need the Lord and how our leaders need to hear from God. Well, the way to walk this out is to be carriers of the message from God! It is through His people that God will reach those who have the rule over us in government, commerce and other areas.

Sadly, many Christians’ only interaction with the powers that be is one of hostility and confrontation, what I call the placard ministry! It is bordering on the ridiculous that we demand perfection and godly rulership from people that don’t know Jesus yet we then berate them when they fail to provide it. Even though we know that we are asking unfairly for the impossible from people completely unable to deliver!

God has not sent us to judge and condemn people in power but to help them. As believers we can provide backing in a supernatural way to those in leadership positions. This includes wisdom from the Word and the Holy Spirit. Indeed, this is the heart of Emrys Ministry, bringing counsel and support from the highest place of authority, the very Throne of God.

Our job as believers is to speak to kings, bringing prophetic insight, godly counsel and supernatural wisdom. Biblical models of this include Samuel, Isaiah and Jeremiah. Historical examples include Merlin, Archbishop Cranmer and John Knox, while Gandalf is an ideal figure in literature to exemplify the role of a wise counsellor to kings.

Emrys ministry is needed more than ever in today’s world, where foundations are far less solid than in previous times and where, for all the explosion of knowledge we have seen, wisdom is scarcer than ever. Leaders need to hear the voice of God and they need the support and wise counsel of God’s people who have been equipped to provide such by the Lord. This isn’t just about moral guidance but also covers things like creative ideas and strategic planning, as well as leadership advice and training.

Crucially, this isn’t about fivefold ministers but is a job for all of God’s people. However, apostles can and do function in the intersection between church and world. It is no coincidence that Emrys ministry has historically been carried out by high-ranking bishops and apostles. Norma Lorre Goodrich postulated that the famous Merlin, arguably the greatest Emrys in the Christian Era, was the alter ego of Saint Dubricius, the highest-ranking Bishop in the British Church at that time. His Merlin persona was the expression, if Goodrich is correct, of the distinction between his ecclesiastical role and his marketplace/courts of government one.

We use the phrase “training for reigning” a lot. Emrys Ministry is the fulfilment of this. It is not about an ecclesiocracy nor does it fit into traditional ideas of theocracy. Neither is it a formal Church-State partnership. It is very much what we would call a para-church concept, although even that is just a label, if we are being honest.

Whatever you label it, the day is coming and is now upon us that more and more leaders and rulers in the world will turn to Christians for help, support and counsel – not only those in fivefold ministry but even the humblest of saints will counsel kings and presidents.

The honour of fashioning this world after the Kingdom is one all the people of God will take part in.

God Wants To Bomb Your City!

From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. HEBREWS 10:13

This is a familiar phrase and theme in Scripture, both in the Old Testament and the New.

It is certainly something that carries the idea of conquest but those who think that it refers to people being crushed by brutal means have missed what the Holy Spirit is saying here.

This is not about a militant Christian crusade that enforces Christianity upon people and brings about some kind of tyrannical order where people are terrified into submission. It is about something far more glorious and wonderful.

You see, God wipes out His enemies by making them His friends. To be more specific, He makes those who oppose Him part of His family. To as many as receive Christ, we are told, God makes them sons and daughters (John 1:12,13).

It is an amazing and fabulous thing that God destroys opposition by accepting us and bombing us with love. mercy and grace.

panavia-tornado-gr4I say this because God wants to bomb YOUR city!!

It doesn’t matter to God how many people in your city are hostile to Him and don’t want to know Him. The truth is, He wants to have a relationship with those people and, although He will never violate our free will, He is happy to get “in your face” with people to show them how much He loves them and how dumb they are for rejecting this love.

As you take a stand in intentionally blessing your city and its inhabitants, you are dealing with the spiritual obstacles and hindrances that stand between people and the God who made them. You are demolishing strongholds that are in situ with the express purpose of keeping people from seeing how good God is.

If you have ever seen the film The Matrix you will know that it is about how what we call our world is an elaborate construct designed to keep people from seeing things as they really are. There is a lot of truth in this. The society and culture we live in is a satanic construct designed to keep people from seeing the truth about themselves – that they need God and they need to be saved. But also that God is a good God and has a purpose and destiny for us, as well as abundant life which is far superior to the mundane, drab lives many lead. And that includes supernatural power, miracles and wonders which fulfil our longings for such things. Sadly, ignorance of this true realm of the supernatural causes many to seek satisfaction in counterfeit realms of darkness and bondage.

God wants to bomb your city with His good news message, His love, grace and power. He wants you to be the bomber who will go over your city in the spirit and launch bombs that obliterate the darkness, disease, debt and death holding people in thrall. You do this, of course, by prayer and proclamation, decreeing blessing and life where there was only curse and death.

Your job is to make your city a comfy footstool for the Lord – a place He can feel right at home in and which gives Him pleasure and delight. This means that people in your city will submit joyfully to His love and offer of new life in Him.

You must be aggressive and determined to blast every last trace of darkness out of your city and to flood it with the light and life of the Lord. Your objective is the removal of every effect of the curse. “That may take some time,” some might say. Well, have you anything better to do?

Hebrews 13:14 says here we have no continuing city but we seek the one that is to come. In other words, we don’t have the society we desire yet so our job is to plant and build the heavenly city where we are.

The amazing thing is that by speaking peace and blessing upon our communities, we not only bomb the hell (speaking literally!) out of them, we plant heaven at the same time.

And give the Lord of heaven and earth a comfortable place to put His feet on…

Bombs away, folks!

Speaking Peace Upon Your Community

Peace be upon Israel! PSALM 128:6

This Psalm is a psalm of ascending steps or degrees. The above verse is the last line in the psalm. We could say it is the pinnacle of the psalm.

Psalm 128 is all about blessed men and families living in blessed communities. It progresses from blessed individuals and sees the blessing permeating through families. Verse 5 says: “The LORD shall bless you from Zion, and may you see the welfare of Jerusalem all the days of your life.”

Zion is literally the royal fortress but also symbolically in this age it is the community of God’s people – the ekklesia. It speaks about us seeing the welfare of Jerusalem – or the city you live in.

God’s people blessed abundantly and bringing that supernatural blessing to the wider community. This is the picture and this is what Bless Your City and ElevenEleven is all about. You getting your socks blessed off and going to dump it on your neighbours, your workmates, your social circle.

“Peace be upon this nation!” is something we should all be declaring, no matter where we live. Some folks get a little bent out of shape because they see this as a blessing and believe that their nation is “ripe for judgement.” This Sons of Thunder mentality is quite prevalent. It is remarkable that many who have this lightning-bolt approach to corporate numbers of humanity are often the ones who extend extravagant mercy to the individual sinner.

But declaring peace is not just a blessing – it is far more than that and is arguably the most powerful thing you can proclaim as a saint of God. Here’s why:-

For unto us a child is born,
unto us a son is given,
and the government shall be upon his shoulder.
And his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace
there shall be no end,
upon the throne of David
and over his kingdom,
to order it and to establish it
with justice and with righteousness,
from now until forever.
The zeal of the Lord of Hosts
will perform this. ISAIAH 9:6,7 MEV

Notice that this passage – which is about the Lord Jesus – links His governmental authority with peace when it says: “Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end.”

When you speak peace upon a town, city or nation, you are not just speaking about an absence of conflict – you are enforcing the Lordship of Christ in that territory.

Peace is a wonderful blessing to invoke upon your community but it is not a weak, soft thing! It is the manifestation of the Kingdom of God in your environment. It is the invasion of Christ’s Lordship in a territory.

Declaring peace is the atomic bomb of spiritual warfare. Forces of darkness and wickedness are dismantled and swept away when you speak peace upon a place. In this day and age we have to contend with a prevalent spirit of lawlessness. Kingdom authority and peace are the antidotes to this poison. Justice and righteousness are released when peace is spoken with the authority that saints possess.

It is a worldly and deluded idea that peace is a kind of wimpy thing, certainly where the peace of God is concerned. His peace is backed up by angelic authority and Jesus is the Prince of Peace. This peace is enforced from the Throne of God and the Throne of David.

When mankind comes under the absolute Lordship of Christ, peace will flood every inch of this planet’s surface.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God. Creation groans with longing for the peace-enforcing sons of YHWH to be revealed.

Bless Where You Live!!

This site has been started to promote what we call the Eleven-Eleven principle.

This is taken from Proverbs 11:11 –

By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked. PROVERBS 11:11 KJV

Words have power. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, we are told in Proverbs 18:21. This means that what people SAY can have a massive impact on the spiritual condition of the city, town or village they live in.

Your community is directly influenced by the aggregate tone of the words spoken over it and about it.

That is why it is so vital to speak words of blessing, life, health and prosperity over your community. You literally have the power to release life and wellbeing upon the place you live and the people who live there with you!

This is a power and authority you can walk in immediately to be a dispenser of blessing to your city.

It is also a responsibility that you must take very seriously. Instead of speaking negatively about the place you live and running it down, you can change the very atmosphere and even through time the physical landscape by blessing it and pronouncing good things. You can prophesy hope and a good future in places where others have said “nothing worthwhile happens here.”

The very essence of the Lord’s Prayer is contained in the words; “THY KINGDOM COME; THY WILL BE DONE IN EARTH, AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.” These words release Heaven’s authority into a situation and command the earth to line up with what goes on in the glory realm of Heaven. They are powerul words, suoernatural words and nation-transforming words. That is, of course, when they are spoken with intent and purpose, not just repeated by rote.

Jesus said that what we bind on earth will be bound in heaven and what we loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. This is another way of saying that we have the authority AND the mandate to decree that earth will align itself to heaven.

There is no sickness in heaven. There is no poverty in heaven. There is no dangerous area in heaven. There fore Jesus is empowering us to change our environment by imposing upon it Heaven’s template and commanding where we live to conform to this template.

Another way of looking at it is to think of it as positive vibes as opposed to negative ones. By radiating positivity concerning our communities, we can transform them by changing the atmosphere. No more doom and gloom; instead, uplifting and life-enhancing thoughts and words.

It is important to emphasise that we are not talking here about wishful thinking or castles-in-the-sky dreaming. Far from being unrealistic, we are actually changing reality by eradicating negativity and replacing it with a far healthier atmosphere.

There is a mighty power in blessing verbally a person, place or thing. You imbue it with spiritual energy which is the very Life and Presence of God. We understand this by the word “anointing” which is both Old and New Testament. It literally means “to smear” and the idea is that if you are smeared with the Presence of God, you will leave a bit of it everywhere you go in much the same way you would if you were drenched in natural oil.

Blessing is verbally releasing the Presence of God upon something or someone. You do this by prophesying good things and by speaking the Name and Presence of God. This creates a change in the spiritual atmosphere of an area. Unfortunately, cursing can do the same, only the change is for the worse.

A typical curse is to call an area “God-forsaken” but you can reverse this curse by decreeing that God inhabits and floods that place with His Presence.

Much of blessing a place is about understanding the negative things about that place and reversing them. For example, in an area of high unemployment you could decree that the place is widely known as an area where everyone has productive work and by speaking prosperity upon that area and those who live and work there.

Eleven-Eleven is not about saying how it is but how you want it to be. Speak what you desire for your community and you can transfom it.

Begin today to bless your city/town/village!!
